A winning recipe in the October 2015 Firehouse Cook-off Challenge between Birmingham Fire & Rescue stations #4 and station #14, this firehouse stays warm and nourished with a combination of chicken sausage and white beans that pack a great protein and fiber punch. It's enhanced with intense flavor, colorful veggies and a creamy texture.

package (12 ounces) JOHNSONVILLE® Cajun Chicken Sausage Links, cut 1/2-inch coin pieces

cup diced onion

cup diced green bell pepper

tablespoons diced Jalepeño peppers

can (10 ounces) diced tomatoes and green chilies

cans (15 ounces) white beans, drained

package white chili seasoning

cup heavy cream

In a soup pot over medium heat, melt butter.

Add the sausage pieces, onions and peppers. Cook and stir until sausage is browned and veggies are tender; about 5 -7 minutes.

Add tomatoes, beans, seasoning and cream; cook and stir until heated through; about 5 minutes.

Reduce heat to simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes.
