Sloppy Joe Cheesy Waffles
Johnsonville® Sloppy Joe Ground Pork Sausage paired with cheesy waffles to make a crunchy waffle creation! Add pickled red onions, arugula or BBQ sauce to really wow the family with this tasty stack. Switch out the flour for almond flour and now it’s KETO-friendly!
package (16 ounces) JOHNSONVILLE® Sloppy Joe Ground Pork Sausage
can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
Optional toppings: pickled red onions and arugula
cups shredded Cheddar cheese
In a skillet, cook and crumble sausage over medium heat until sausage is browned and the internal temperature is 160°F; about 10 minutes. Drain if desired. Carefully add tomato sauce; simmer until heated through, stirring often.
Preheat a mini waffle iron.
For the waffles, in a bowl, combine the eggs, cheese and flour.
Spray waffle maker with cooking spray and pour batter into the waffle maker; close. Cook for 3-4 minutes or until fully cooked; remove waffle and repeat for additional waffles.
To assemble sloppy Joe sandwiches, place 1 waffle on a plate. Top with sloppy Joe mixture and desired toppings. Top with remaining waffle.
Repeat for additional sandwiches.
