Caramelized Onions and Brats
Love this method for making brats! Savor the smell of browning brats, caramelizing onions and simmering brats in a favorite beer of choice. The tender and juicy brats are perfect when topped with flavorful onions and your favorite mustard.
package (19 ounces) JOHNSONVILLE® Original Brats
large onions, sliced
tablespoons olive oil
bottle (12 ounces) beer
In a CanCooker, prepare brats according to package directions; remove and keep warm.
Heat oil until hot and smoky. Add onions, cook and stir with a wooden spoon over medium heat until browned; about 5 minutes.
Add 1/3 beer; cook and stir to reduce liquid.
Add brats and another 1/3 beer.
Cook and stir to reduce liquid; add remaining beer and butter.
Serve onion mixture and brats on buns.
