Johnsonville’s New Ultimate Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage Among the List
The Johnsonville Ultimate Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage won the 2020 Convenience Store News Best New Product award in the Foodservice-Lunch category.Contest entries were rated and awarded points by consumers based on the criteria of taste, value, convenience, healthfulness, ingredients, preparation requirements, appearance and packaging. Johnsonville’s Foodservice business introduced its new Ultimate Jalapeno Cheddar smoked sausage earlier this year.
The magazine stated that nearly 100 entries were submitted in the 2020 Convenience Store News Best New Products Awards contest, featuring keen competition among suppliers jockeying to introduce the most innovative new items to the convenience store industry in the past year. The Best New Product Awards program is in its 24th year and secured a record number of entries this year.
CSNews announced the 38 product category winners on its website in August and published the news in its September issue.
The Best New Products Awards program recognizes the marketers that introduced the most innovative, high-quality products that meet consumers’ evolving needs and fit a convenience store’s value proposition. Judging was supervised and tallied by Past Times Marketing, a New York-based consumer research and product-testing firm.
Johnsonville’s Foodservice business introduced the Ultimate Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage as a great addition to c-store foodservice options that could be used to increase roller grill profits or for a Made-to-Order concept. Johnsonville’s new Ultimate Jalapeño Cheddar Sausages:
- Have a four-hour hold time
- Come fully cooked
- Are frozen for storage convenience
- Contain no MSG
- Are available 10 lbs. to a case
- Made with fresh cuts of premium pork, real diced jalapeños and melted cheddar cheese
- Feature rill marks which are added during production to offer a fresh-off-the-grill appearance to grab customers’ attention.
