Big Taste Grill Begins 2019 Tour

SHEBOYGAN, Wis.— The Johnsonville Big Taste Grill hits the road this month, embarking on its 25th year to share bratwurst and goodwill across the country.

The Big Taste Grill kicks off its six-month tour that will take it to more than 50 cities at community events, festivals, sporting events and retail locations across the country. On the road since 1995, the Big Taste Grill shares not only the great taste of grilled bratwurst with fans, but also raises money for local nonprofits. To date, the Big Taste Grill has raised more than $4.4 million for charities – and disaster-relief efforts – nationwide. In 2018, the Big Taste Grill helped raise nearly $100,000 for 28 community charities across the country.

The Big Taste Grill starts its season in the Midwest, first in Milwaukee at Miller Park for the Brewers’ home opener and then onto St. Louis, before heading to the Southeast and Texas for April and May. The Big Taste Grill then travels to the Northeast in June and returns to the Midwest in July and August. In between its stops in the Southeast, the Big Taste Grill will also make a stop in Opelika, Ala. to bring brats and smiles to the victims and first-responders recovering after the deadly EF4 tornado that struck Lee County in March.

Weighing more than 53,000 pounds and measuring 65 feet long, the semi-turned-grill is equipped with four grills, hot and cold running water, electricity, a sound system, a prep station, and a refrigeration unit. The Johnsonville Big Taste Grill has the capacity to cook more than 700 brats at a time or approximately 2,000 per hour.

Meet the Big Taste Grill Staff

Returning for his second tour is Jay, who logged thousands of hours on the road in 2018 and just as many hours at the grill, grilling and entertaining guests at various events. Jay has numerous years behind grills and on the road, and you can always find a Johnsonville product in his fridge – most likely anything with cheddar and/or bacon!

Kris also returns to the tour for his second year, bringing his extreme culinary skills and entertainment to guests. The multi-language, fast-talking entertainer enjoys how food is the “great unifier.” He enjoys delighting guests who visit the Big Taste Grill and showing his skills at the Smoked Scotch Egg, using his favorite Johnsonville product – the all-natural hot Italian ground sausage.

Denny is the driver behind the Big Taste Grill wheels, after having led the tour effort in the Southeast last fall as part of Johnsonville’s SEC sponsorship. He loves it when fellow travelers honk at the Big Taste Grill to say hello! He loves grilled sausage but admits his favorite Johnsonville product is the breakfast sausage links and patties.

You can meet the crew and find a complete calendar of where the Big Taste Grill will be heading at www.bigtastegrill.com.
