Vintner's Red Wine Sausage Bath

People think that red wine is good for the body, but we know that it does wonders for Johnsonville Italian Sausage. Try this bath when you want to class up your meal even more.

Vintner's Red Wine Sausage Bath
What you need
- 1lb.sliced bacon, coarsely chopped
- 8oz.fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 1bell pepper, sliced
- 2shallots or small onions, sliced
- 3clovesgarlic, thinly sliced
- 1750 mlred wine
- 1bunchfresh thyme sprigs
- 2bay leaves
- 2pkgs.(19 oz. each) Johnsonville® Mild Italian Sausage Links
- Large12-in. x 9-in.heavy-duty disposable foil pan
Preparation
- 1Preheat grill to medium-low.
- 2Place a large heavy-duty disposable foil pan on the grill; add bacon. Cook bacon until crisp, stirring often.
- 3Add the mushrooms, peppers, shallots and garlic; cook and stir until tender.
- 4Add the wine, thyme and bay leaves. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- 5Add sausage and cover pan with foil. Simmer for 10-15 minutes or until a thermometer inserted into sausage reads 160°F.
- 6Remove sausage from the pan. Grill links until browned; return to pan.
- 7Discard thyme and bay leaves.
- 8Cover pan and keep warm.
