Johnsonville Three Cheese Italian Style Chicken Sausage Cabbage Rolls
What you need
- 1 pkg.Mahatma® or Carolina® Yellow Rice Mix
- 1 tsp.olive oil
- 1largeonion, chopped
- 1largebell pepper, chopped
- 1pkg.(12 oz.) Johnsonville Three Cheese Italian Style Chicken Sausage
- 1head cabbage
- 1largejar pasta sauce
- 1/4 cupParmesan cheese
Preparation
- 1Preheat oven to 350°F.
- 2Prepare rice according to package directions.
- 3Heat oil in a medium skillet over medium heat.
- 4Sauté onions and peppers just until tender.
- 5In a medium bowl, combine cooked rice, sautéed vegetables, sausage.
- 6Core cabbage and boil 10 minutes.
- 7Separate leaves and place leaves back into boiling water until they are easy to bend, 1-2 minutes.
- 8Fill leaves with rice/sausage mixture. Roll like a burrito, tucking ends as you go using the largest leaves.
- 9Place seam side down in a 3-quart baking dish.
- 10Cover rolls with pasta sauce and top with cheese.
- 11Cover pan with aluminum foil and bake 30 minutes.
- 12Serve.
- 13Tip: Use the smaller leaves to line the bottom of the pan.
