Smoked Sausage with Rice Pilaf

Smoked Sausage with Rice Pilaf

What you need

  • 1 box
    (6 ounce) long grain wild rice with seasonings
  • 1 package
    (13.5 ounce) JOHNSONVILLE® Smoked Sausage, cut into ½” slices, halved
  • 1 cup
    fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 cup
    green pepper, diced
  • 1/2 cup
    onion, chopped
  • 1 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon
    crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon
    olive oil

Preparation

    Prepare rice according to package directions.

    In a skillet, sauté sausage, mushroom, green pepper, onion, garlic and pepper flakes in oil until tender.

    Combine prepared rice with sausage mixture and serve.

Delicious, quick and easy meal!

I made this last week and it turned out great! I was pleasantly surprised by how good this was. Very flavorful and it was so easy to make! I did up the veggies a little and used a full bell pepper and more mushrooms than was called for.

A fantastically quick, filling and healthy meal.

This is our favorite way to eat Johnsonville Sausage. I keep Johnsonville on hand all the time as my go to meal when I want a healthy meal fast. It's so versital that it makes it a fool-proof meal no matter who I'm making it for or what their food preferences or allergy requirements are. I have used green peppers, mushrooms, yellow squash, zuccini, chopped fresh basil and even fresh chopped tomatoes added just before serving. I would use onions also but my husband is allergic to them. Sometimes instead of rice I use noodles or leave the rice and pasta out altogether and make it a stir fry with just the sausage and vegetables. It's great anytime of day and anytime of the year. Everyone loves it when I take it to our church pot lucks. It's my all season, healthy, hearty go to meal..

Variation to recipe

I use onion, black beans, sausage, garlic, tomatoes, and peppers to make this. It's awesome and my family asks for it often.

There is nothing my family loves more that rice pilaf and smoked sausage! Never did we think to put them together! The flavors are wonderful and even my two year old enjoyed this dish! Definitely going to hang on to this recipe for the future

Not too spicy and so easy to prepare!

The Smoked Sausage is mild and does not over-power any of the other ingredients. We did leave out the Bell Pepper due to allery but added Celery. YUM! Have recommeded this to our family and friends. The sauted mushrooms were WONDERFUL and we were so glad we actually doubled the amount called for.
