Gyro Brat Hoagie

All the gyro taste you love baked into a hearty hoagie roll and stuffed with brats, onions and a tasty sauce. All the taste without the mess! An excellent use for pregame brat fry leftovers. Make it ahead, then bake in the oven or on the grill at the tailgate!

Gyro Brat Hoagie

What you need

  • 1cup
    (8 oz) sour cream (for sauce)
  • 1/2medium
    cucumber, peeled, seeded and finely chopped (for sauce)
  • 2
    cloves garlic, minced (for sauce)
  • 2tsp.
    fresh parsley, chopped (for sauce)
  • 1/4tsp.
    salt (for sauce)
  • 1/4tsp.
    cracked black pepper, optional (for sauce)
  • 1pkg.
    (19 oz.) Johnsonville® Original Bratwurst
  • 1loaf
    (1 lb.) French bread
  • 1small
    onion, thinly sliced
  • 1medium
    tomato, thinly sliced

Preparation

    In a bowl, combine sauce ingredients. Cover and refrigerate until serving.

    Grill brats according to package directions.

    When cool enough to handle, cut into ¼-in. bias slices.

    Slice French bread lengthwise and transfer to a baking sheet.

    Arrange brat slices on bread bottom.

    Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes or until bread is lightly browned.

    Remove from oven. Top with the sauce, onion and tomato.

    Cut hoagie and serve.
