cooking directions :

Always thaw product prior to cooking. To ensure product is cooked thoroughly, use a cooking or meat thermometer to make sure sausage has reached an internal temperature of 160°F.

Skillet

Spray a skillet with cooking spray. Add sausage. Cook over medium-high heat until browned, about 5 minutes, turning links often. Reduce heat to medium-low. Carefully add ½ cup water to skillet. Cover and simmer for 12 minutes or until cooked through.

Gas or Charcoal Grill

Preheat gas grill to medium-low. (If charcoal, allow it to burn until white ash has formed on the coals.) Place links on grill and use tongs to turn links often. Grill covered for 15-20 minutes or until cooked through and browned. (Closing the grill lid while cooking helps minimize flare-ups.)

Indoor Broiling

Preheat broiler. Place links on broiler pan or foil-lined baking pan on center oven rack (7-9 in. from heat). Broil for 11-12 minutes or until sausage internal temperature reaches 160F, turning links every 4 minutes.

Pan Reheating

Medium temperature in a covered pan for 8-10 minutes.

For optimum freshness, keep refrigerated and prepare within 3 days of purchase, otherwise freeze for up to 30 days.

Wonderful

by beth 8 months ago
I use this sausage in all of my italian recipes. We also use it just to grill and put on a bun. This sausage is a wonderful addition to all my recipes. My family thinks it is great because the spice is perfect. Not too hot or sweet.

Absolutely the best!

by Vic44 12 months ago
I have been using Johnsonville Italian sausages ever since I moved away from the town where there was an Italian butcher shop that I frequented that made their own sausage. While theirs were homemade and fantastic, I found that the Johnsonville sausages were so close by comparison that I couldn't tell the difference as far as freshness, taste and texture. I am one who prefers slices of sausage in my spaghetti rather than meatballs, so needless to say, I buy a lot of sausage. My Italian grandmother taught me a way to enhance the sausage flavor even more. Prepare your sausage by simmering it in apple juice before slicing and adding it to your spaghetti sauce. It really makes the sausage and sauce special.

Perfectly between "Hot & Sweet"

by adelaide03 1 year ago
The Johnsonville named was instrumental in my first purchase of the Mild Italian saugsage as the one I usually buy didn't Look so good that day and since I had a coupon for Johnsonville Italian Sausage I decided to give it a try. I really was not expecting too much, but since it wasn't for a special occasion, just weeknight sausage & Peppers I knew it would at least be ok, in terms of quality & freshness. Since I have always relied on your breakfast sausage products I was comfortable with my purchase. To say I was surprised would be an understatement, These sausages far surpassed the ones I usually buy for "weeknight supper". I find myself looking for them in my supermarkets, and may I say not always be able to find them, which is disappointing. I try to request them @ customer service, but I'm pretty much convinced the stores have gotten so big, that "corporate" decides what comes in & when, so I just keep looking!!! I have now tried all the varieties of Johnsonville Italian sausage that I have been able to find. All are excellent. Oh It's harder to find the loose Italian saugsage, & that is also excellent, makes great meatballs.
