My favorite sausage of all. Perfect amount of sweetness but not too much. Taste with chicken absolutely great. Love it with pasta and parmesan grated and some pepper. Our family favorite. Tastes even better grillled with peppers on a sandwich.
My Hubby is trying to lose weight but all his favorite foods are "bad" (burgers, fries, sausages, etc.) This is a great way to have a healthier option to fatty pork sausage.Slow cooked in apple sauce and served with kraut and a light beer is a great meal alternative when craving brats and beer. He loved it!
After trying and experiencing several brands of chicken sausage, I saw Johnsonville's! I have to admit that I expected it to be dry like the ones that I had previously tried. It was a wonderful surprise when they were extremely juicy! The flavor was very good. The sweetness of the apples with the savory seasonings was a perfect pairing. The only issue that I have... There should be more than 4 in a package!
I have tried most of the chicken sausages by Johnsonville, but this particular one is my favorite because it includes apples instead of the cheese which is perfect for where I am today in terms of trying ot lose weight. It's perfect, it's tasty, easy to make and has wonderful flavor!!! I am so happy they came out with quality chicken sausage. It's a household name here!
On a recent family vacation we were going to grill out. I was in charge of purchasing the food. With all the requests for "juicy hamburgers" and "real hot dogs" I was at a loss as to what I would eat. I am always conscious of what I eat and try to behave the majority of the time. Just because it was a family vacation did not give me license to cut loose. So I purchased the apple chicken sausage. I was able to participate in dinner without appearing that I wasn't being part of the rest of the family. It was delicious and healthy. Thank you, Johnsonville!
We really loved the taste of this sausage and it's a good thing, because after it being so, so very difficult to open the package to get to the sausages, I was determined that we would never buy them again. It literally took me longer to open them (over 10 min.) than it took to cook them. I think that they packaged the way they are so that you can theoretically just take out one or two and the others will stay freshly packaged. I was using kitchen scissors that work well, so it wasn't my problem--it was something about the way the plastic was done that it was still very difficult get the sausages out. The recipe should also be on the outside, not the inside, in my opinion. But really, the sausages are excellent when it comes to taste.
We grilled the apple chicken sausage to get a nice char on the outside. We made pizza crust from scratch, used BBQ for the sauce, sliced onion, spread out cheese and topped with slices of the grilled Johnsonville chicken sausage - Incredible! The flavor of the sausage was delightful, and paired well with the BBQ pizza.
This is the best product to cook with! they are great on the grill, roasted in the oven and best in jambalya!! My family dosent even know how healthy it is for them. My favorite is ka-bobs on the grill. You can make it with anything, anytime. It's delicious and healthy!
I wanted to just take a moment of my time to write to you today and tell you how much my family loves your Chicken Sausage especially the apple flavor. When I served your sausage while camping with family, my whole family raved about how sweet and delicious they are. Thank you so much for making a great product that enables my family and I to make great memories around the breakfast camper. This will surely become a staple in my house for Sunday family breakfast. Thank you for your time.
The Chicken Apple sausage was perfect for my bread salad. My family loved it. Sausage was not too salty or too sweet. Mixed well with the tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and Greek olives . Usually I use an Italian sausage but my daughter wanted to try the Apple.
1 loaf of Italian bread cut up in to 1in pieces 1 pkg chicken apple sausage 1 8oz small fresh mozzarella Balls 2 Roma tomatoes seeded large chop 1 sweet onion large chop 1/2 cup olive of choice kalamata olives are best generous pour of olive oil and vinaigrette (to taste) salt and pepper mix all ingredients and drizzle with olive oil and balsamic broil for 6-10 minutes and serve with salt and pepper to taste
I hadn't tried Johnsonville Apple Chicken Sausages, but the store I was shopping in was doing a demo with them. They were outstanding! A sweet, savory combination that pairs well with grilled vegetables, a salad and a glass of Pinot Grigio for a delightful al fresco summer meal.
I have tried many of the flavors, and this is my fave. I love the apple and chicken mix, just the right amount of sweetness. My kids like the spicier kind, but the sweet is my choice. If looking for something a little healthier and great flavor, this is it!
My friend invited me to dinner and I thought she was serving hot dogs. Which I don't eat. I told her I would just have the salad. She realized that I I'm trying to eat healthier and told me about what she was serving. Chicken sausage. It was yummy. Thanks!!
I am always trying to get my kids to expand their flavor pallet. That is much easier said than done. I was surprised and excited when they gobbled these right up. I sliced, fried, added pineapple chunks and served over white rice. It was yummy!
Oh my goodness! We LOVE the new Johnsonville brats......in ANY flavor. Now when my kids want to grill hot dogs, we look forward to the meal--we can throw on some Johnsonville brats for my husband and I. We not only use them on the grill, but last week, for our 4th of July family celebration we roasted them on a stick over the fire just as we would hot dogs. Fabulous! Keep up the good work.
Even though I knew this was going to taste very different from a pork sausage, I wasn't quite prepared for HOW different it would be overall. It has a much different texture than the pork & beef sausages...almost mealy. It's effectively like biting into rotisserie chicken that's been pulverized. After a few bites though, it starts to grow on you. The flavor is true to the label though a touch sweet for my liking on meat products. If you're looking for a sausage to serve that's very different from the usual then this is the sausage for you.
I am disappointed that these (and the rest of the chicken line available at my local store) have dairy in them. Unfortunately my daughter is allergic (and I try to avoid it as well) and can not eat these with everyone else. Consider making an option for those with food allergies and limit ingredients to meat and seasonings.
Although it is a bit high priced and not quite spicy enough to suit me, although I readily admit that I do like my sausage products fairly strongly seasoned. My local retailers seem to think this stuff is made of gold, though, and I rarely find it at an attractive price. For that reason, I rarely purchase anything in the brand line.
Let me be clear, though....my biggest complaint is the lack of distinct seasoning, and that is a purely personal preference. I have found the Johnsonville products have consistent quality, and have experienced almost no product loss during cooking.
My whole family loved the chicken and apple sausages. Even my 2 year old and he's a picky eater. We ate them plain on a bun and they were very satisfying. We will definitely eat them for dinner or even lunch again.
My co worker and I started a low carb diet recently. The Johnsonville chicken sausages really help change things up. They are so yummy and not dry like you might expect from a chicken product. I They are easy to make on a grill or in our case in the cafeteria on an indoor grill. These are perfect for the summer too, lighter than your average sausage. All the flavor with none of the guilt!
The chicken sausage has a flavorful taste while not giving the individual too many calories. I love the uniqueness of the sausage. I would recommend to anyone who wants something a little different without all the fat.
These were a good mix of apples and a bit sweet, but not so sweet that is was overwhelming. Great job being able to have that hint of apples in there. Still nice and juicy and high quality Johnsonville that you expect!
Added this Apple Chicken Sausage to my usual Saturday morning Scrambler and yummy. Now my veggies have a friend. Try it. I use mushrooms, tomatoes, cheese, red and yellow bell peppers and of course Apple Chicken Sausage
I saw the Johnsonville Apple Chicken Sausage and wanted to give it a try. I am usually the only one in the family that eats sausage. But with the Apple Chicken Sausage, the whole family loved it! It has a great not-too-spicy sausage flavor with a hint of sweet apples in just the right combination. It really tastes great. We love it with rice, pasta, and even just eating them cut into links and grilled. They have a good texture and taste great.
Now this is one of thoese staples that is always in my cart. The combination of flavors is fantastic and pleases the whole family. My kids love these sausages and have no idea how good they are for them. This is a product I plan to keep on our family menu for a long time!
Very Happy you have entered this market; this product has a wonderful flavor. Your combination of Chicken and Apples has a great taste and a wonderful smell. I always cook more than needed and use the leftovers in a salad the next day, if my husband hasn't raided the refrigerator.
You're Apple Chicken Sausage is a hit with kids and adults! And what a great way to enjoy a more healthy appetizer that all will enjoy. All you need to do is throw the sausage on the grill, when they are finished cooking just add your favorites. We have a platter piled high with grilled bell peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes. we also have uncooked veggies, like carrots, celery, olives and cubed cheese. Oh, and don't forget apples, they go great with the sausage! Just put the skewers out and let everyone load them up with their favorites. Add a dipping sauce or a dressing and the party is on its way!
I love the Apple Chicken Sausage from Johnsonville. Its a great blend of savory and sweet. I usually pair it with rice. or roasted potatoes. Even my daughter likes it, and she can be a picky eater sometimes. Plus it's a great source of protein, and I feel like I'm still being healthy because it's less fat than most conventional sausages.
We have not only had the Apple Chicken Sausage on the grill a number of times but have also used it in egg bakes and made with peppers and rice. Great flavor without all the calories makes the whole family happy.
I've bought this kind more than the others. I like the slightly sweet taste that comes with it. I've been able to use it in a variety of applications, from just cooking it, grilling it or adding it to pasta dishes. It's a great product.
We are a military family of 6, and my kids love to try new things. One night when I failed to take something out to defrost, I remembered I had some sausage in the fridge. I threw it in with some frozen veggies and some pasta, added a little spice and it was a two thumbs up kind of dinner. Thank you for making a super yummy product that everyone loves!
I pan steam and serve with macaroni and cheese and my grandsons devour it. They eat different types of sausage on a regular basis, like pork for breakfast. I don't tell them it is chicken and they apparently can not tell the difference, which is great because it's healthier for them.
I have a hard time getting my kids to eat meat sometimes because the flavors are too strong and the texture is too tough. BUT even my finicky youngest son LOVES this flavor due to its fruity (but not too sweet) flavor and the texture is firm yet smooth and easy to chew. We use it in recipes and even it plain. It is a hit with the whole family!
My family normally grill burgers & dogs for my daughter's bday. This year, we mixed it up & got a selection of Johnsonville Brats & Sausages including these Chicken Apple. The first bite threw me a bit because they were slightly sweet to me. Bite after bite became better & better! I had one plain & one on a wheat bun with kraut...which was AMAZING! I highly recommend this product if you are looking for a new flavor to serve your family. My family has decided that brats & sausages make for one heck of a meal!!
The apple chicken sausage is ideal when combined with fresh herbs, bread crumbs, grilled sweet onions, shaved carrots, and fresh chicken or turkey stock. Mince up the sausage and add to the grilled onions and shaved carrots, then combine the bread crumbs and stock. Slowly simmer until everything combines to a mouth watering taste of the holidays year round.
Picked these up because my I am already a fan of the regular Johnsonville smoked sausage. I liked the combination of seasonings that gives it a very satisfying flavor. Excellent in a mixture of stir fry vegatables and rice or just on a hot dog bun.
Thanks to a coupon I found for Johnsonville Chicken Sausage (any brand), I purchased the Italian-style sausage links and made a fabulous supper frittata with eggs, onion, peppers, mushrooms, and of course, Johnsonville Chicken Sausage links that I 'steamed', browned, then sliced. I sautéed the veggies in a nice big cast-iron pan, added the prepared Johnsonville chicken sausage, 10 beaten eggs, some S&P, and topped it off with some shredded white sharp cheddar cheese. In less than 1 hour from prep to finish, I created a great healthy and easy supper with left overs for breakfast for a couple of days. Add a salad for supper, some toast for breakfast, and one package of Johnsonville chicken sausage links made this full time career woman's culinary success easier and healthier.
This is absolutely my favorite sausage. I like the combination of sweet apple and spicy seasonings. When we go to the store I try to purchase at lease one extra of this flavor (although I do like all of the other flavors, too!). I also cut this one up into little chunks and use it in my pasta. Cobined with my favorite salad dressing and some broccoli and grape tomatoes it makes a wonderful dinner dish. Cold, it makes a wonderful salad. I highly recommend these sausages, and this brand in particular.
I got the best compliments on this sausage. When I told them it was Johnsonville they said no wonder it is so good!! I love this sauasage and it is all I will ever make for my family. Because they deserve only the best and this is it :)
My Doctor told me unless it's chicken based -no sausage. Tried another brand and couldn't stand them. I tried Johnsonville's Apple Chicken sausage and fell in LOVE. I can still get my sausage fix, YAY!! & I'm lovin' it!
If you have a husband like mine, who loves sausages, steak, burgers, all meat sort-of man. Who also recognizes lower fat options as 'rubber', you can relate to this review. I did the old' switcher-roo' with Johnsonville Chicken Apple Sausages and prepared a fabulous meal which was a home run. After my husband completed his meal, I asked him how he liked the sausages, he said they were fine and he would eat them again; that is when I broke the news to him and he was completely happy with the change!
I am picky about my sausage....if it doesn't taste great, I don't eat it, period. I absolutely LOVE the Apple Chicken sausage; it hits all the essentials: taste, texture, and healthier. Sausage Lovers, Celebrate!
My husband loves the pork sausages, but to cut down on our calories I decided to try the apple flavor chicken sausage. It's the perfect balance of sweet to add to the chicken sausage flavor. We generally grill ours, but have also pan-fried them in a little olive oil.
I purchase these for this past Memorial Day Holiday and my husband put them only the grill and when they came off the grill and cool down for a moment they were very, very juicy and the skin was crisp, this was a sausage at it's best!!
Considering that I live in the land of brats and can find homemade brats at every store in the area, the Johnsonville ones were riding up against some steep competition. All in all I'd say they are a decent sausage. The apple could come through a bit more, but paired with some caramelized onions these made a tasty dinner.
First time I had Apple Chicken sausage I was very hesitant. I couldn't imagine fruit in a meat product to be good. We were soon hooked though, and it has become part of our monthly rotation of meals -- both for breakfast, and at dinner. Love this stuff!
Tried this sausage for the first time recently and was pleasantly surprised by it's wonderful taste and the ease in which my family accepted it. Served it with a side of green salad and it was a quick and healthy meal!
My family loves Jambalya but I do not love having to use pork sausage so I cam across this apple chicken sausage and though why not! My husband thought I was crazy...apples in jamabalya??? The apples complimented the spicy seasonings quite well....this is a staple in my kitchen now!
This product is listed under "BETTER FOR YOU"? Than what, a triple quarter pounder?

I bought these sausages---my bad---without reading the label. So I can't complain: the nutrition label was there to warn me. But for what they cost, I should be able to leave a review even if it was dumb to buy them.
The first ingredient listed for these sausages is chicken but obviously, that must mean Johnsonville is using something besides healthier breast meat. The fat content is too high for that to be the case. Another reviewer is right: the sodium content is dangerously high for anyone. One sausage is more than 40% of the amount that adults should consume in one day. These are not healthy; they are a dangerous food choice.
I didn't mind the flavor of this sausage, although the skin is too thick and chewy. Had it really been healthy, I would have added this sausage to grain and veggie dishes, so my husband won't think he's missing out on meat entirely. As it is, that is my last unhealthy Johnsonville chicken sausage ever, and a painful reminder that despite what the label SAYS, the true story is in the nutrition facts. That's the one part of the packaging where food manufacturers aren't allowed to exaggerate, mislead or lie.
I took a bite of this expecting to love it - Chicken Apple Sausage sounds like it would be delicious. And, it's expensive, so I was definitely expecting a treat. As you can tell from the title, I didn't love it. They're not AWFUL, per se, but they taste like kicked up hot dogs - nothing special. I wouldn't buy this again.
I have been buying your chicken sausages for a year now and I have never been disapointed with the favors nor the texture until today :( I tried your new smoked chiken sausage ( 6 in a pack) and it tastes more like a hot dog, not like a sausage. Did'nt taste any smoke flavors in it. Very dissapointed!!
I was looking for an alternative to chicken breasts and thought I would try the chicken sausage apple. It was too sweet for my taste and I ended up adding some spices to tone down the sweetness. Will not purchase again. May try your plain chicken sausage.
The Sodium of 860 will kill you alone not to mention the Cholesterol of 60mg

This was a great disappointment to me. I saw the advertisement and thought wow, sounds good. 50% less fat. I bought the product and I usually always read the labels, this time I did not. Got home. Cooked it up and I swelled up like a balloon. Went the doctors and I was not allergic to it, the doctor said it a wonder you don't have a heart attack, look at the amount of SODIUM in this product. This is a terrible product. So it has 50% less fat, the Sodium and Cholesterol in it will kill you alone.
No, they aren't as quite as good as a regular Johnsonville brat hot off the grill, but when you combine taste, as well as fat content, they're probably a better combination. I make these all the time, quick easy, and I think they're one of the better items for a quick lunch or dinner.
I love chicken sausages - but I will stick with other brands from now on, because these were basically hot dogs. They did not have the sausage texture and they tasted very processed and artificial. I would not recommend.
I was apprehensive at first, I didn't think I would like the Apple Chicken Sausage, but I really do. My only complaint is that the casing is too thick and tough.

Great new option!

The new apple chicken sausage are much healthier than the pork options, yet very flavorful. The sausages are individually compartmented in the wrapper so you can open one link at a time keeping them fresher longer.
The chicken sausage with apple was yummy - mostly sausage flavor, with a little apply sweetness. I probably would not have known that little kick of sweet came from apple if I had not seen the package. I was worried that there would be chunks of crispy and too sweet apples, but the texture was consistent. I enjoyed the sausage with eggs for breakfast. I think this would be a good replacement for a hot dog.
I have tried different brands of chicken sausage but Johnsonville Chicken Sausage is the BEST, I refuse to eat any others brands. In fact I only eat Johnsonville brand brats not any other brand. It is simply the best and rocks!
Really enjoyed these. Wish I had a coupon when I purchased but I trust Johnsonville quality so I didn't hesitate to try. Great flavor, easy to prepare. Need some recipe ideas so I could use more often. Thank you, Johnsonville, for a flavorful healthy sausage that tasted a little sweet without adding tons of sugar like everyone usually does to make things taste good. Will definately try other flavors. Always a big fan of J'ville - a Wisconsin girl misses her brats!
