BRING FRESH FLAVORS FROM THE GRILL INDOORS DURING THIS YEAR'S BIG GAME... WITHOUT BRAVING THE COLD

BRING FRESH FLAVORS FROM THE GRILL INDOORS DURING THIS YEAR'S BIG GAME... WITHOUT BRAVING THE COLD

When preparing sausage such as bratwurst or Italian links indoors, Chef Murray reminds at-home cooks to always thaw the links prior to cooking. He also notes the links are fully cooked when they reach 160°F, as indicated by a meat thermometer. Chef Murray recommends the following cooking methods to ensure your sausage is ready to satisfy hungry guests at half-time - or whenever they're hungry:

  • PAN COOKING

Heat your pan to "medium." Add ½ cup of water and place your sausage links in the pan. Cover the pan and heat for 10 minutes, turning the links once. Remove the cover and continue cooking for 10 minutes.

  • GRILL PAN COOKING

Heat your pan to "medium" and lightly coat it with oil or cooking spray. Grill your sausage links for 2 minutes on each side. Pour ¼ cup of water into the pan. Cover the pan and heat the sausage links for 8-10 minutes. Next, remove the cover and continue to cook the links for an additional 8-10 minutes, or until the meat's temperature is 160°F.

  • GRILL PRESS COOKING

Preheat your grill press; when 's ready, place your sausage links on the grill press, close it and cook the sausage for 5-7 minutes, or until the meat's temperature reaches 160°F.

  • INDOOR BROILING

Place sausage links on broiler rack, at least 7-9 inches below the heat of your broiler. Broil the links for about 4-5 minutes per side, until golden brown, or about 16-20 minutes total.
