cooking directions :

Always thaw product prior to cooking. To ensure product is cooked thoroughly, use a cooking or meat thermometer to make sure sausage has reached an internal temperature of 165°F.

Skillet Directions

Spray a skillet with cooking spray. Add sausage. Cook over medium-high heat until browned, about 5 minutes, turning links often. Reduce heat to medium-low. Carefully add ½ cup water to skillet. Cover and simmer for 10-12 minutes or until the sausage internal temperature reaches 165°F.

Gas or Charcoal Grill

Preheat grill to medium-low. (if charcoal, allow charcoal to burn until white ash has formed on the coals.) Grill sausage, covered, for 12-20 minutes or until browned and the sausage internal temparature reaches 165°F, turning links often. (Closing the grill lid while cooking helps to minimize flare-ups.)

Indoor Broil

Preheat oven to broil. Place links on a broiler pan or foil-lined baking pan on center oven rack (7-9 in. from heat source). Broil for 12-13 minutes or until sausage internal temperature reaches 165°F. Turn links every 3 minutes to help prevent splitting.

Pan Reheating

Cook in a covered pan at medium heat for 8-10 minutes.

Excellent!

by fused1013 8 months ago
My husband and I have been trying to cut out fat and calories without depriving ourselves of flavor. We figured we'd try these, as they were on sale and we had coupons. I generally par-boil my brats and then brown them on the grill. I couldn't believe how little fat there was in the water! Neither one of us could taste much of a difference either. They were just a tiny bit dryer than the regular brats but just as flavorful. We will be sticking with these, it's a win/win:)

Tasty, but somewhat misleading...

by HaroldBeanbag 9 months ago
First off, these are delicious. I'd be hard-pressed to tell there is anything but pork in these juicy badboys. That said, I feel a *little* bothered that the 50% Less Fat claim is made against "USDA data for pork and beef sausage" and not Johnsonville's Traditional Pork Bratwurst. A traditional brat carries 21g of fat vs. the 15g from the pork & chicken variety. My math says that is 28.57% less fat. Because, let's be honest -- who is eating a non-Johnsonville brat anyway?

Loved! Even the hubby approves!

by Kamille 10 months ago
Very similar taste, but less greasy. They were wonderful! My husband usually doesn't care for lower fat items with chicken added in, but this was definitely an exception. He loved it & so did our 3 year old! Win win for sure!

Excellent Brats!

by GrillinFloridian 1 year ago
I had these when I was up in Indiana and they were excellent! I have recently moved to FL and trying to get the local Publix Meat Manager to carry them, or at least order me some so I can grill them myself. Thanks for keeping the flavor and making them healthier!

I'm moving to Johnsonville!!

by Mikey 1 year ago
So I just finished dinner and these Pork and chicken Brats where so good I felt compelled to get online an. let EVERYONE know just how good these are!! They’re delicious! A huge improvement from health food I have been eating for the past month. I have been doing Weight Watchers getting ready for my wedding an I would never have been able to eat the traditional brats that I love as well but these are much healthier only 6 points on weight watcher. I would much rather have these than a chicken burger, which are 4 points. I’m going to get some for my freezer tomorrow!!

100% of the taste, 50% less fat

by alaska 1 year ago
I had a coupon, so I decided to give these a try. I simmered in beer (like I do with all my brats) then placed them on the grill. So delicious! They still contain a lot of fat, but are a huge improvement from traditional brats in the health category. They are a little pricy when not on sale, but worth the extra bit of cost.

Whole family loves it!

by Irochka 1 year ago
It’s not easy to make not just healthy, but tasty meal…. It’s not easy to please everyone in a big family… Here how “Johnsonville Brats” help me to do so: I am grilling these sausages and put it on top of plain rice. (juice from the sausage makes plain boring rice taste interesting and delicious!) For kids: you can make this sausage look like smile over the rice “face”, and as “eyes” – just add two circles of steamed carrots! Works like a charm.

So Good, no condiments needed

by toomamma 1 year ago
Normally, I pick up the Beer Brats, but was intrigued by the 50% less fat. Without knowing, my family loved these, just as much as the originals. They taste fantastic and are filling - yet are much lighter on the stomach. I just cut these up in pieces. We didn't need any mustard or condiments whatsoever. Especially love them for Sunday breakfast with the kids.
