Portion-Control

Recent studies showed that most Americans underestimate their daily calorie intake by at least 600 calories a day! Portion-control is important when it comes to keeping calories in check, but it is often easier said than done. Try these 3 easy portion-control tricks to downsize with ease:

  1. Eat meals off a salad plate instead of a meal plate. You’ll be eating less, even if the plate is full.
  2. Keep a measuring cup inside packages of foods that are easy to eat too much of like cereal, nuts, and snack foods. That way it’ll be easy to measure out the correct portion, and you’ll know exactly how much is on your plate.
  3. No measuring cups in sight? Try this trick. Divide your plate into 3 sections: fill half of your plate with fruits and veggies, a fourth of your plate with a protein, and a fourth of your plate with a starch.
